Calling all North Tahoe Makers!

Do you make stuff at home? Do you do woodwork, sewing, metalwork or work with clay? Do you make art, music, tech projects, crafts, knit or crocheted things, yard art, glasswork, gardens, candles, bread, jewelry, toys, cards, cookies, vehicles or body care? If you make anything, you’re part of the Maker Movement.

If you’re not familiar with North Tahoe, it includes Truckee, Northstar, Olympic Valley, Martis Camp and everything along Lake Tahoe between Incline and Tahoe City, including my hometown of Kings Beach.

We live in a seriously amazing place… the Maker Movement thrives here because there are so many creative folks making cool stuff, in studios, garages, sheds, barns… or on a kitchen table. There are great resources, programs and classes at places like the Truckee Community Rec Center and the Truckee Roundhouse Community Makerspace, where I volunteer and teach.

One of my volunteer roles is managing maker booths, so every February, I start seeking local makers to participate in our annual Truckee Roundhouse Maker Show, scheduled for Sunday, June 7th this year. The event focuses on showcasing our local maker community, with opportunities to Show & Tell (exhibit), demonstrate, vend, volunteer, teach a mini workshop or host a hands-on activity for guests to participate in. We focus on makers who don’t have opportunities to share their work or interact with their maker community.

If you are a maker, or know somebody who is, we want you! Check out the Maker Show. Contact us for more information. Email: info@truckeeroundhouse.org
