The playa is a magical place. We are proud members and volunteers of Friends of Black Rock High Rock, in Gerlach, Nevada, the last town before hitting the Black Rock Desert where Burning Man is held. FOBRHR is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that does conservation, education and outreach in the 1.2 million acres of public lands in the Black Rock Desert area.
We participate in playa campouts, star gazing and volunteering for public outreach and restoration projects. It’s a wonderful way to experience the playa in a very intimate way.
During Burning Man, we host the Last Chance Outpost pop-up store in Gerlach, Nevada, where we sell playa gear, pre-owned burner wear, cold drinks and snacks during Burning Man. It’s a fundraiser as FOBRHR so they can continue their grass-root efforts to protect the Black Rock Desert.
