With the support of Arts Benicia and Tannery Building merchants, I will be hosting Steampunk in the Trunk, a one-day trunk show at the Tannery Building in Benicia.
My goal is to introduce Steampunk to my local art community, create a new venue for artisans, and support Arts Benicia and local merchants. I hope to have some local Burning Man Steampunk art cars to attend.
I am working on a new assortment of Upcycled Steampunk clothing and accessories for this event. If you know me, you know I love having a project to motivate me so I am a busy-busy bee right now… and loving it.

Steampunk in the Trunk one-day trunk show

Hosted by: Arts Benicia and Tannery Building Merchants
This is a one-day show for local artists, clothing designers, craftspeople and musicians who work in the Steampunk genre. This community-driven event will include a casual fashion show, live acoustic music and Steampunk art cars. Participants are welcome to do demonstrations and interactive activities.
Mission: We hope to introduce the Steampunk culture to our community, create a new venue for local artisans, and to support Arts Benicia and downtown Benicia businesses.
The Venue: Benicia’s historic Tannery Building housed hide-tanning businesses during the Gold Rush, when Benicia served as California’s State Capitol. A that time, Benicia was known for its shipping port, lively commerce and numerous brothels.
The Tannery now houses small businesses including; a Steampunk-themed pub, an antique shop, a hot dog & burger joint, a tattoo studio, an art gallery, a vintage furnishings shop and consignment clothing store. This waterfront venue offers beautiful views of the Carquinez Straights and is just steps from the old train depot, the waterfront promenade, Marina green, shops and restaurants.
There is limited exhibition space throughout the Tannery. Participants must provide their own booth set-up, tables, chairs, signage, etc. Electricity is available. This is a Leave No Trace event. Guests of all ages are welcome in the Tannery, but must be 21 to enter Cullen’s Pub.
Marketing/Media: Arts Benicia will promote the event within our community and surrounding areas. Participants will receive digital announcements and post cards to send to their own mailing lists. Steampunk in the Trunk Submission Details
Vending Artist/Designers: We are seeking original, hand-crafted or vintage sustainable artwork, sculpture, clothing and accessories that clearly and uniquely demonstrate the Steampunk genre. Submissions will be juried and artists will be notified by March 29.
Musicians: We are looking for acoustic musicians who play “Django Reinhardt”, Ragtime, Old-timey Blues, Gypsy or other genres that work with Steampunk. A small stipend will be offered to musicians and tips will be encouraged.
Exhibiting Art and Art Cars: We are seeking Steampunk art cars and large 3-dimentional artwork for exhibition. A small stipend will be offered.
Volunteer Models: We are seeking male and female models for the casual Fashion Show. Contact me if you’d like to participate.

Fees and Sales: There is an entry fee of $40 for vending participants, for marketing and production. Proceeds from sales will benefit the participants (80%) and Arts Benicia (20%). There is no fee for Exhibition Only participants.

- Submission Form: Please complete the form below.
- Digital Images: Include images that represent your current work. Submit 5 to 10 jpegs, totaling no more than 5MB, or a link to online images. Title your digital files with your last name and title/description of the piece (example: LastName_Title.jpg).
- Biography: Tell us about yourself, your art/music and your Steampunk influence and style.
