I’m proud to announce the launch of a new 2-Day Workshop:
Sewing 101 – Practical Sewing Fundamentals.
The broad goal of this course is to help students cultivate the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to start and troubleshoot basic sewing projects. Students are not expected to have any prior textile experience and the information should be a helpful refresher for anyone looking to get back into the textile shop. This course is designed to give students hands-on experience with the home sewing machine and work on a project. The course also includes an opportunity to be checked out on the home sewing machines.
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
-Learn, have fun, and be inspired in the textile shop while also managing expectations on new projects
-Be a steward of the textile shop
-Identify different types of fabrics and their appropriateness for different projects
-Perform basic hand sewing techniques / repairs including measuring, cutting, pinning, and stitching fabric
-Set up and operate a home sewing machine
-Plan and carry out a sewing project
